Pink Rayon Straight Kurta Pants Set

BIBA.ca is the only online store for Indian ethnic clothing for women in Canada. The ethnic wear for women designed by Biba not only features impeccable design, but also showcases the evolution of Indian ethnic wear in the Biba collection. Rich in floral patterns and blending with classic styles, BIBA’s ethnic collection is a must-see for this season. With BIBA’s typically North Indian design, BIBA has captivated Indian consumers.

BIBA was launched as a brand in 1988 and in the early 1990s it opened its first exclusive store at Inorbit Mall in Mumbai. In 1973, with the support of Dorothy Perkins and British Land, Biba moved into the seven-story Derry & Toms department store, which instantly attracted up to a million weekly shoppers, making it one of London’s most visited tourist attractions. Once the Big Biba store opened its doors, it became a popular destination, attracting up to a million visitors a week, making it one of the city’s most visited tourist attractions.

It’s a treasure trove of vintage Biba products and ads, and shares all the gossip about Biba’s work with the Polish-born designer until the shops close prematurely. Even if you can no longer visit the Big Biba store, you can still purchase Biba’s new fashion clothes.

In recent decades, several designers have tried to restart the Biba brand (all without the participation of designers of Polish origin). The Biba label was launched again in May 2006 under the direction of designer Bella Freud. Most of the various designers failed miserably, but in 2009 the House of Fraser department store bought the rights to the Big Biba store and successfully reintroduced the brand with London’s It Girl Daisy Lowe as the new face.

In 1966, Barbara Hulanikis Biba opened a new store on Kensington Church Street and later expanded into a former department store on Kensington High Street. Many women outside of London made special trips to London just to shop at Barbara Hulanickis Biba.

In fact, for all the glamor of Big Beeb, young people could still afford to go there and wade through the crowd to get their hands on the bare essentials, like the knee-high boots popular at the turn of the decade. It wasn’t just the students and young workers who enjoyed the well-planned romance: models, singers, and TV stars (including Twiggy, Cilla Black, and Ready Steady Go!’s trendy pop music TV show host Katie McGowan) were also loyal clients of Barbara Hulanickis Biba. Her first chocolate box boutique only sold one type of dress in one size, but that didn’t stop the young fashionistas.

In 1983, Meena Bindra decided to celebrate the spirit of Biba, the Punjabi’s affection for beautiful women, by designing dresses from her home in Mumbai. At 70, Mina Bindra proudly wears her BIBA and still finds the entire creation process extremely exciting. As the business grew, Mina Bindre had to deal with marketing, finance, and planning.

BIBA was one of the first brands to use the Shoppers Stop, LifeStyle and Pantaloons shop-in-shop model. Today, BIBA operates in 76 cities in India, with 192 specialty stores and more than 250 multi-brand stores. BIBA also collaborated with designers such as Rohit Bal and Anju Modi to showcase their first collections in their stores.
